GROUP THERAPY

Group therapy is a well established form of treatment for a variety of emotional problems including relationship problems, substance abuse, depression and anxiety. There are several different types of groups, reflecting different theoretical orientations as well as different goals for group members. The benefits of group often include reduced feelings of isolation, opportunities to practice new skills in a safe and faciliated way, as well as support and encouragement from others who can relate to your struggles.

Often people seeking help are reluctant to participate in a group. It is normal to worry about how to talk with others about your problems, feeling overwhelmed by the problems of others, or issues related to confidentiality. I can assure you that I screen potential group members carefully, have a strict policy of confidentiality and have the skills to manage the group process effectively.

I have extensive experience facilitating a variety of groups and am excited to include group therapy as part of this practice. If you are interested in participating in a group, and are not an existing client, please contact me to schedule an initial consultation.
